Steam White Promfet

Remember the whiff of vinegar chilli that just overwhelm every space in your senses when the doors of the Teochew restaurant swings wide open to welcome you into an wonderful culinary experience.

In Singapore, there are not many authentic Teochew restaurants that have captured the hearts and stomachs like the old-school Teochew food conjured from the kitchen of Ban Seng Restaurant (萬成).

For many Teochews and food lovers, Ban Seng Restaurant is a special place where delicious hearty cuisine compounds the happiness and enjoyment of many birthdays, weddings, family dinners and specials occasions.

Cling on to these fond memories as your eyes feast authentic Teochew cuisine (prepared by the ex-chef of Ban Seng Restaurant, aka my 老爸) with the pictures below.

The first dish...Pipping Hot Steam White Promfet

This whopper fish weighs 600g and satisfied 6 of us. Surprisingly, the wonderful liquid that the fish is swimming in right here is the best of all, with the essence from the fish and the mixture of ingredients that goes towards making the liquid a light yet wonderful broth-like soup.

The fish is perfect by itself, having a firm taste without being overcooked.

Apart from the widely known Teochew porridge, there are several unknown yet sumptuous delicacies of Teochew cuisine which I hope to share in details in the near future to anyone who is interested.
